109,000 acres under the plough in Ampara

About 109,000 acres will be cultivated with paddy in the Ampara District in the Maha season. Agricultural and Irrigation Department officials told farmers to complete paddy sowing before October 31.

The Maha season cultivation began on October 9. Sugarcane and subsidiary food crops will also be cultivated during the Maha season. Most farmers grow red rice in the region.
