Cyclonic storm to be developed during the next 30 hours

The well marked low pressure area over Bay of Bengal to the east of Sri Lanka is expected to intensify further into a depression during next 06 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours, stated the Department of Meteorology.  

It is likely to move northwestwards towards Northeast coast of Sri Lanka on 24th of November. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Eastern, Northern and Northern-central provinces. Very heavy falls above 150mm are likely at some places.  

Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. 

Very strong gusty winds (60-70) kmph can be expected in Eastern, Northern and North-central provinces. Strong gusty winds (40-50) kmph elsewhere. 

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by strong winds.
