Two individuals aged 46 and 49 were arrested yesterday (25) by the Terrorism Investigation Department (TID) for allegedly promoting extremism, stated the Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.
He further said the 46-year-old suspect had been deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 05 December 2020 as he had been engaged in collecting funds for terrorist activities.
Meanwhile, the other 49-year-old suspect was arrested as he was identified as a keen follower of Zahran Hashim and had promoted extremism through Facebook.
Further investigations are being carried by the TID regarding the suspects.
