Strange Things star Millie Bobby Brown is no stranger to a good manicure but sadly, her love for nail art takes a back seat when she’s starring as Eleven in the Netflix hit series. “While filming, I can’t have any nails at all. Most of my characters don’t,” she said in a recent interview.
The 17-year-old actor spoke to the magazine while filming the next season of Stranger Things. While MBB’s clean beauty brand Florence by Mills is proof that she’s a bonafide beauty fanatic, nail art is one of her favorite ways to refresh her look, and having to sacrifice her nails in the name of character integrity is, in her own words, “so depressing.”
Still, she’s a true pro and pushes through. “[For] Godzilla vs. Kong, I had army green nails for that, which was nice. But today, I have a mint green tip, which is really exciting — except I have to take it off when we start filming! So sad!” MBB recounted. “I love love love getting my nails done; it’s one of my favorite things to do. I personally feel like that’s my time to find cool things and join in on the beauty trends.”
Nails aside, MBB also enjoys experimenting with the latest trends on the fashion front – though not so much these days since she’s spent a good part of this year in lockdown loungewear. “This particular year, my style was put on pause because of quarantine, you know? I was wearing pajamas every day,” she says. Sounds familiar! But, like so many of us, Millie’s finding every opportunity to evolve her style. “I’m very into high-waisted jeans, crop tops, and a cool jacket and Air Force 1s. I also have chunky black boots that I wear absolutely everywhere,” she told Elle. “I’m really going for that trendy look now, because I didn’t get to do it for so long!”
Millie’s taste for trends is a telling snapshot of the direction that post-pandemic fashion is going. After staying at home for so long, any excuse to dress up is one we’ll take! Nails included!
