Police to recruit more Tamil men and women in North - DIG Ajith Rohana

25 April, 2021

A significant number of young Tamil men and women would be recruited to the Police Department in the future to strengthen law and order in the North, said Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Attorney-at-Law Ajith Rohana.

He was addressing a workshop held in the North on Thursday (22) attended by senior police and Government officials. The workshop was conducted to discuss the possibility of recruiting more young Tamil men and women to the Police Department to serve in the North as well as other predominantly Tamil-speaking areas in the country.

DIG Ajith Rohana said he was confident that there would be a good response from eligible candidates to take this opportunity and enter the Police Department.

He added that the successful candidates will also be provided an opportunity to serve in their own districts.

“Over the past few years some 10,000 young men and women have been recruited to the Police Department throughout the country.

Another 24,000 young men and women are expected to be recruited to the Police Department over the next two years”, DIG Rohana said.
