My country

2 May, 2021

My motherland is Sri Lanka. It is well known in the world as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. The closest country to Sri Lanka is India. My country is full of natural beauty. There are waterfalls, hills, valleys, rivers, paddy fields and many other beautiful places. Luckily, there aren't any volcanoes.

My country has plenty of water. Ceylon, Taprobane and Serendib are some of the other names which were used for Sri Lanka in the past.

Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burgher are the four main communities in Sri Lanka. Buddhism is the most ancient religion in my country.Sigiriya, Anuradhapura and the Dambulla Golden Temple are some of the valued historical places in Sri Lanka.

The national flag of my country has four colours. The jungle fowl, the blue water lily and the ironwood tree are some of the national symbols of Sri Lanka and volleyball is the Sri Lankan national sport.

Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte is the capital city of Sri Lanka. There are nine provinces and 25 districts in my motherland. The first Prime Minister of Sri Lanka was D.S.Senanayake The current President of my country is Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

I love my motherland, Sri Lanka and I'm proud to be a Sri Lankan.
