Ghost cricketer in Sri Lanka team

2 May, 2021

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) or the current interim administration running cricket, has found a ghost in the team who has no name but who had been involved in a brawl in a hotel.

In a media statement SLC said a three-member inquiry panel had found the un-named ghost player to be “unprofessional and lacking the required level of integrity expected of a national player.”

“Based on the findings and recommendations made by the panel, the Management Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket warned the player not to engage in any conduct which violates the standards of honesty, morality, fair play, and sportsmanship which result in bringing disrepute to Sri Lanka Cricket.” the statement further said while adding that the un-named ghost player was directed to “attend mandatory counselling sessions conducted by a doctor nominated by Sri Lanka Cricket for a one year period.”

The administration of cricket is currently under a Sports Ministry-appointed Committee until an election of office-bearers to run the sport is held on May 20.
