Trinity-Antonian postponed, new dates to be decided

2 May, 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has caused disruption to cricket big matches and this year’s 103rd Trinity–Antonian match which is the sixth oldest encounter in the country has been postponed once again. The match was listed to be played on May 15 and 16 at Katugastota. Out of the 102 matches played, Trinity College won 23 with 11 ending in favour of St. Anthony’s College and 68 draws.

Due to a disagreement between the two schools regarding the age rule, the match was not played in 1956 and 1957.

Also in 2001 the match was not played as Trinity stopped mid-way during that season due to disciplinary reasons and last year’s encounter was not played due to the coronavirus.

The last outright win for the Antonians was in 1992 and Trinity won last under Niroshan Dickwella in 2012 after the 1986 win under Thushara Weerasuriya.
