Prof. Ravindra Fernando launches book on President Premadasa’s assassination

‘The Assassination of President Premadasa of Sri Lanka’ is the latest book written by Prof. Ravindra Fernando. 

The book describes how President Premadasa was assassinated by a suicide bomber, at the May Day Rally in 1993.  After discussing the life and times of President Premadasa, Prof. Fernando outlines the bomb explosion and the identity of the alleged assassin. 

The book gives an insight into the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the end of the battle against terrorism. Prof. Fernando explains the post-mortem examination of the assassin and the post-mortem examination of President Premadasa and other victims. He describes the extensive report he submitted to the Magistrate’s Court on the assassination, at the request of the Magistrate, Champa Buddhipala. 

The book covers the police investigation of the assassination.  It contains photographs of the scene of the explosion, how the bodies of President Premadasa and Assistant Superintendent of Police Sarath Mahinda lay at the scene, the head of the assassin, Babu and the bicycle and the left leg of the assassin. 

The book is published by Vijitha Yapa Publishers.
