The number of confirmed cases of Covid–19 is on the increase in the Northern Province with 74 persons found to be infected with Covid-19 in the Jaffna district alone, according to Northern Province Director Health Services Dr. A Ketheeswaran.
He said that samples of another 853 people have been sent to the laboratories of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and the Jaffna Medical Faculty. GA Jaffna K. Mahesan has issued a warning that anyone violating transport restrictions at present would be strictly dealt with. As the festival season is currently in progress in the North, health officials and the police have warned the public to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations currently in place to deal with Covid-19.
