Media personnel exposed to risk in the line of duty to bring the latest of the Covid-19 stories to the public, received the Sinopharm vaccine under the State inoculation program at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital (SJH) on Friday (May 14).
The vaccination program for journalists commenced at the SJH with the intervention of Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi on the request of Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
Media Ministry Secretary Jagath P. Wijeweera, Director General of the Government Information Department, Mohan Samaranayake and Director, Media to the Ministry K.P. Jayantha were also present.
Over 6,000 journalists have been issued ID cards by the Government Information Department. The Ministry of Mass Media has instructed media institutions to direct journalists for vaccination according to priority.
