Following reports that Sri Lankan cricketers have rebelled against their employer Sri Lanka Cricket demanding more pay, it has now been revealed that Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera will be the highest paid players in the new annual contracts.
Dhananjaya and Dickwella will receive 100,000 US dollars each which is equal to Rs.19.6 million in local currency for the year while Mathews and Kusal Perera will be entitled to 80,000 US dollars each equal to Rs.15.6 million.
The payments are annual Retainers in addition to match-fees paid separately for Test matches (5000 USD for a match) and limited overs matches (3500 USD per match).
In-form Test batsmen Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne will be paid 70,000 and 55,000 US dollars each that is equal to Rs. 13.7 million and 10.7 million in local currency.
