Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu reunite for Christmas movie

30 May, 2021

Thirteen years later, High School Musical stars Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu are still in it together – or rather, back in it together.

Announced on May 19, the actors, who played Taylor McKessie and Chad Danforth in the beloved Disney Channel Original Movie, will be reuniting for a Lifetime Christmas movie, titled A Christmas Dance Reunion.

Per Deadline, the film will follow Lucy Mortimer, a “successful attorney” played by Monique, and her mother Virginia as they make their way back to Winterleigh Resort to celebrate one last holiday season before the hotel permanently closes its doors. There, she reunites with Barrett Brewster, played by Corbin, who’s not only the owner’s nephew but Lucy’s childhood Christmas Dance partner.

With nostalgia in abundance, Lucy sets out to make the most of the holidays and the hotel’s traditions, reviving the popular Christmas Dance event. “Lucy must decide if she’s willing to take a risk on love and partner up once more with Barrett for what could be the last Christmas Dance,” the synopsis reads.

After the film was announced, Monique took to Twitter to celebrate the news with a “how it started vs. how it’s going” meme, showing an image of the two actors from their East High days and the teaser image for A Christmas Dance Reunion. Corbin retweeted Monique’s post with a wink emoji.

“This has been the hardest secret to keep!!!” Monique wrote on Instagram. “Starring in a [Lifetime] Christmas movie has always been a dream of mine, but never in a million years did I think I’d get [to] share the screen with one [of] my favorite people!!!” “I’m reuniting with someone I love,” Corbin wrote on his Instagram stories sharing his announcement.

It sure looks like HSM alums have a thing or two for Christmas movies, and we’re not complaining! Plus, you can never go wrong if the pairing is Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu.
