Daily Covid-19 cases in the country remained above 3,000 for the third consecutive day on Friday and the death count reached a disturbing 48.
Health officials confirmed that 3,398 Covid 19 positive cases were reported on Friday (June 4) bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 199,242.
The Government Information Department stated that the new cases reported on Friday were associated with the New Year cluster. As many as 164,281 recoveries and 1,656 deaths have been confirmed in Sri Lanka since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. According to official data, up to 33,353 people were receiving medical care at designated hospitals and treatment centres by Saturday morning.
