Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for using what the International Cricket Council (ICC) said was “audible obscenity during an international match”.

Iqbal committed the offence after both the on-field and TV umpires ruled him out caught behind in the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka on May 28 in Dhaka as his team lost by 97 runs although winning the series 2-1.

In addition one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Iqbal for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The ICC said in a statement that Iqbal admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee Neeyamur Rashid and there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and Tanvir Ahmed, third (TV) umpire Gazi Sohel and fourth official Masudur Rahman levelled the charge.
