SLT-Mobitel supports TRCSL to bridge the digital divide

SLT-Mobitel facilitated the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka’s (TRCSL) ‘Gamata Sanniwedanaya’ Project by commissioning the first 4G tower in Panana, Weligepola on Monday,  extending its support to bridge the digital divide. 

Director General, TRCSL, Oshada Senanayake, Group CEO, SLT-Mobitel, Lalith Seneviratne,  Acting CEO, Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd., Chandika Vitharana members of the senior management of SLT-Mobitel and government officials and well-wishers were present.

This is the first 4G tower commissioned under the Gamata Sanniwedayana Project and it will improve connectivity in the Sabaragamuwa Province. Other locations are being developed under the same initiative as SLT-Mobitel continue with the planning efforts for the other districts under the same scheme with TRCSL leadership, a company official said.

Facilitating the infrastructure needs of the private and public sectors, SLT-Mobitel’s partnership with TRCSL will bring to life the core vision of providing 100 percent 4G LTE connectivity to the nation by facilitating infrastructure requirements to address the digital connectivity challenges faced by rural communities. SLT-Mobitel’s support to the project also drives forward the nation’s efforts towards a digital transformation, he said.
