Chandimal inquires about his future in team

Dinesh Chandimal, former captain of the Sri Lanka cricket team has sent a letter to Aravinda de Silva, the Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket's technical advisory committee seeking clarification about his future as a player after he was not picked into the squad for the series against India starting today.

"I would like to discuss my future in professional cricket with Sri Lanka Cricket. As this is my profession, it is very important for me to make the right decision for my future at this time,” the 31-year old Chandimal has stated in the letter.

In this letter, Chandimal also recalls his achievements in international cricket so far and how the prowess of several former Sri Lankan batsmen had improved after the age of 30.

Chandimal has so far played in 62 Tests, 149 ODIs and 57 Twenty20 Internationals for Sri Lanka, scoring an overall 8724 runs, including 15 centuries and 48 half-centuries.

His average in Test cricket stands at 39.98 and 32.43 in ODIs.
