A majority of the main stream media have decided not to enter the Press Box at the venue of the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo where the India versus Sri Lanka series is being played over what they say is the hypocritical, misguided and misrepresentation of facts concerning Covid 19 protocols given to Sri Lanka Cricket by a so-called “medical expert” in the Ministry who has never set foot into such a Press working environment.

The media also physically boycotted the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka series for the same reason and covered the matches and relevant proceedings through other means other than being present in the Press Box.

The Press Box at the Premadasa Stadium is one of the biggest that can accommodate over 150 personnel but only four are expected to occupy its large seating capacity.

Meanwhile a cricket fan was overheard telling a board official that while 100 spectators are not allowed to see their cricketers in action, a thousand are able to visit the zoo to see animals.
