Back to school

25 July, 2021

Learning is a child’s right. Due to Dr. C. W. W. Kannangara’s concept of free education in Sri Lanka, it is obvious that even children in rural areas will receive education even with limited facilities.

But we also have to remember that Sri Lanka has the highest reported youth literacy rate in South Asia.

However, due to the current corona virus, it is clear that the online education process in Sri Lanka has suffered a major setback. Due to the lack of facilities in Sri Lanka, children, especially in rural areas, are facing setbacks in the educational process. As a result, children as well as parents living in rural areas are very saddened. Not only children in rural areas but also children in urban areas are very stressed.

This is because children who are often trapped in buildings in urban areas go to school and have fun with their friends to get rid of that stress, but now they are stuck in many buildings where they are not able to meet friends and have fun.

But if we all work together as responsible Sri Lankan citizens,we can go back to school sooner. So stay

home, act as responsible citizens and save the country, save the world.
