Five Trinitians in Sri Lanka U-19 pool

Five cricketers from Trinity College have been drafted into the Sri Lanka Under-19 pool now undergoing training at a Residential Training Camp.

The National Cricket Selectors have picked 75 talented school cricketers from five zones of 15 players each from the Colombo North, Colombo South, Southern, Central and North Western zones.

The five Trinitians are Sri Lanka youth cap Matheesha Pathirana, Ranuda Somaratne, Vibavith Ehelepola, Pawan Pathiraja and Akram Muthalib.

The Sri Lanka youth cap who bowls square arm pace Matheesha Pathirana represented the Sri Lanka under 19 team at the Youth World Cup in 2020 in South Africa.

Right hand batsman and right arm off-spinner Ranuda Somaratne, left hand batsman and right arm leg-spinner Pawan Pathiraja, left hand batsman and wicket keeper Akram Muthalib and left hand middle order batsman and right arm paceman Vibhavith Ehelepola performed well in batting and bowling at the last school cricket seasons for Trinity College.

Kavinda Jayasooriya was their head coach and Naveen Ekanayake was the assistant coach under the guidance Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara the Principal of Trinity with Brian Senaratne as the master in charge of cricket -(YK)
