MCA cricket final on August 7 after major upset in semis

MCA cricket springs back into action after a lull period of three months with the 10th Stafford Motor Company sponsored Honda Trophy – MCA G division 25-over League tournament final to be played between Pyramid Wilmer and Abans Group on Saturday, August 7 at the MCA ground, commencing 10 am.

The two teams played their semi-finals way back on April 24 and Pyramid Wilmer created a major upset, eliminating the unbeaten and tournament favourites Hayleys Group by two wickets, while Abans Group comprehensively beat Zillion Systems by 46 runs.

Pyramid Wilmer’s top performers were Lasith Fernando (6 innings and 190 runs, including two half centuries), Malintha Peiris (6 innings, 163 runs, including two half centuries), Umedha Madushan (9 wickets and 81 runs), Lakmal Fernando (8 wickets and 131 runs) and Nishan Perera (7 wickets and 131 runs)

Abans Group top performers were Rangana Kaushalya (6 innings and 173 runs with a half century and 10 wickets for 105 runs), Maduranga Hettiarachchi (6 innings and 173 runs inclusive of a half century), Isuru Jayaranga (6 innings155 runs and 10 wickets for 123 runs), Sanjaya Muthuthanthri (9 wickets for 91 runs) and Hasaranga Perera (7 wickets for 131 runs).
