Sri Lankan rower compete for 7-12 placings

Sri Lankan rowing athlete Mahesh Jayakody produced a fine performance at the Paralympic Games men’s single Sculls Repechage 2 event yesterday to qualify for the final B event which is scheduled to be held today at the Sea Forest Waterway in Tokyo commencing at 6.20am (SL time).

Jayakody finished in fifth place with 11minutes 21.31 seconds to enter the final B.

According to the Chief De Mission of the Sri Lanka team Major General Rajitha Ampemohotti the final B is for selecting the 7th to 12th places of Paralympic Rankings.

B. Pritchard of England and Reja Munoz of Spain were placed first and second at the Repechage 2 sculls event and got direct qualification for the gold medal event while the rest of the three players entered the final B
