Gold medallist at the Paralympic Games Dinesh Priyantha Herath will receive Rs. 50 million while Bronze medallist Samitha Dulan is to receive Rs. 20 million according to the director general of sports in the Sports Ministry, Amal Edirisooriya.
Their coach Pradeep Nishantha who coached the two javelin throwers will receive Rs. 17.5 million. The National Sports Council and the Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa held a meeting last Thursday and approved the payments.
The army has already promoted both Paralympians who are also war veterans.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket said it will present an award of Rs.10 million to Herath and Rs.1 million to Samitha.
