The evils of vandalism

26 September, 2021

Hello children,

Today, I would like to draw your attention to the evils of vandalism.

What is vandalism? It is the desecrating, defacing or spoiling of things intentionally. A toddler scribbling and spoiling a wall Icannot be considered a vandal as he really does not understand the gravity of it.

Unfortunately, there are many who indulge in this evil practice and they are called vandals. They can be adults, teens or children.

Walls full of graffiti, names and initials carved on walls, trees, buildings or furniture, the breaking of windows and other things all come under vandalism. Vandals do not spare even historical and cultural sites.

Seats and the interior of buses and trains bear much evidence of the work of vandals.

The menace of vandalism must be uprooted from society and you, dear children, can do much to do so.

First, never indulge in vandalism. Then, if you see vandals at work try to stop them. Get adult help if necessary. You can also report vandals or acts of vandalism to the Police or any other relevant authorities.

You can also raise awareness about the evils of vandalism among your peers and society. Advise vandals and would-be vandals.

Vandalism at national heritage sites is unpardonable as it is the desecration of our cultural heritage.

Let us join hands to stop vandalism.
