New Zealand’s famed All Blacks rugby team beat the world champions South Africa in a super thriller contest 19-17 which also marked the 100 Test match between the two countries in Brisbane on Saturday.

In the closely fought out match of the four-nation Rugby Championship, both teams had close calls and came tantalisingly short of crossing the line several times with the end result being just one try each in the entire match while predicting the winners was no easy task.

The Springboks led for most of the first half 11-7 after both teams scored a try each within the first five minutes starting with Jordie Barret crossing the line before South Africa’s Nikosi went over. The All Blacks led the contest 16-14 until the 66th minute when the South Africans went ahead 17-16 through a penalty.

But with less than three minutes to go All Blacks full back Jordie Barret sealed the result when he landed a penalty to make it 19-17 for his team to also secure the Freedom Cup.

South Africa had enough ball to score more than one try but indulged in too much of kicking to lose possession. Australia and Argentina are the other two teams in the fray.
