Britain’s top Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton got back into the title lead as he won his 100th race in the Russian Grand Prix last Sunday and ruined the chances of Lando Norri’s aim for a maiden victory.

The win on Sunday further increased Hamilton’s record for the most number of wins in Formula One with Michael Schumacher following second with 91 victories.

Rain also washed away Norris’ dream of winning his first race as he led with five laps to go that stood in the way of his chances of beating the champion racer Hamilton as Max Verstappen came ins second.

Hamilton was some 15 seconds behind Norris during a rain interference and then caught up to race into the lead while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz took third place and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo and Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas took fourth and fifth places ahead of Fernando Alonso.

At one stage Hamilton had dropped to seventh place in the race behind Williams driver George Russell who was in third place ahead of Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Ricciardo.

Starting from the back of the grid, he was ninth heading into the closing laps, two spots behind Verstappen, and was briefly up to fourth as the rain threw everything up in the air.

But stopping late on the same lap as Norris meant he dropped down out of the points into 15th.
