The National Olympic Committee NOC has secured a lucrative sponsorship for two more elite badminton players, Thilini Hendahewa and Ranthushka Karunatilake who were selected after careful evaluation.
The welfare of both players will be under the care of Sun Match Ceylon Limited (Sooriya) and CIC Vetcare respectively and the agreements were exchanged by the two companies and the NOC under the auspices of its president Suresh Subramanium and SLB treasurer Mangala Gamage.
In February this year two other badminton players Sachin Dias and Bhuvenaka Gunatilleke bagged a sponsorship as the best Doubles combination in the island.
Thilini Hendahewa was indisposed and was not present on the occasion but Ranthushka carried the program for the players heralding a new era for badminton in Sri Lanka.
