The Purawaruna, an official newspaper for the Kuliyapitiya Municipal Council printed by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. (ANCL) was launched last week.
The paper which is designed to disseminate development related news among the general masses, was launched at a ceremony at the Kuliyapitiya MC auditorium.
The Kuliyapitiya MC was the first to embark on this project and similar publications will be introduced in other local Government bodies in the future.
Along with the newspaper, a news website and an e-paper was launched under the auspices of Chairman and Board of directors of the ANCL and Chairman of the Kuliyapitiya MC, Lakshman Adhikari.
ANCL Chairman, W. Dayaratne PC said his ambition is to create a communication bridge for masses living in local Government constituencies to learn about the development related work executed by the local authorities islandwide.
The paper will be published once in two months.
