Kotmale Hill Club gears up for much-awaited speed show

The Senkadagala Motor Sports Club in association with the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club has decided to conduct the CEAT Kotmale Hill Climb on December 11 with practice runs the previous day.

This is the 11th motorcycle and 12th car event to be held in Kotmale.

It was to be held on May 1 and 2 but was postponed because of the coronavirus.

It will be the first speed show of the year and all top motor racing stars are expected to take part in this event.

The president and the committee of the Senkadagala Motor Sports Club have made all arrangements to make this hill climb a success.

The car events are one-make Nissan March, SL GT Cars, Formula Cars, SUV, Truck and Jeeps while the motorcycle categories are from 250cc to 1000cc. In addition, there will be events for women and a special event for doctors.

According to the secretary of the club, Poorna Dahanayake, they have received 250 entries, 125 each for motor cars and motorcycles. The organising committee comprises motor sports promoters Thusith de Silva, Poorna Dahanayake, Dhammika Bambaradeniya, John Baskaran, PHN Solomon, Errol Kemps, Lakshman Issac, Oshada Wijesekara, Sarath Tennakoon, EM Dissanayake, Akila Senanayake, Darshana Abeysinghe, Gihan Deerasekara, Avishka Jayasinghearachchi, Eranga Ranasinghe, Madushanka Alawala, Thilanka Abeysinghe, Anuradha Navarathne, Taranga Dahanayake, Sena de Silva and Weenu Braun.

The chief guest will be cabinet minister Dilum Amunugama and the guest of honour Dilantha Malagamuwa.
