Sri Lanka to host four international tennis meets

The Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) has four more international tennis tournaments to be held in the country with many foreign players to make their presence.

The first will be the Junior (U-14) Fed Cup tournament to be held from March 14 to 19. Already 16 countries have expressed their willingness to participate.

This will be followed by the Junior (U-14) Davis Cup tournament to be held from March 21 to 26. There will be up to 26 countries making their appearance this year.

This will be followed by three wheelchair tournaments. The first one will be the Negombo Open to be held from February 26 to March 1 in Negombo.

The Sri Lanka Open event will be held from March 3 to 6 and at the SLTA courts. This will be followed by the SSC Open to be held from March 8 to 11 at Maitland Place.

The wheelchair tennis tournaments will also attract as much as 18 foreign players against 14 Sri Lanka players.

The wheelchair players will then be sent to the Korea in April to participate in two tournaments. Thereafter they will be sent to Holland for training for ten days prior to participating in the World Cup tournament to be held in Portugal in May.
