Ex-Richmondite team Castle Lions beat Majestic Challengers

Leg spinner Thushan Jayawardena had fine figures of 3 for 23 as Castle Lions beat Majestic Challengers by 12 runs in the inaugural Richmond Past Cricketers Premier League tournament (RPCPL) fixture played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Castle Lions led by Chamila Gamage scored 116 for 4 wickets in their 10 overs with Bathiya Kalansuriya (31), Chanaka Vithanage (23) and Indika Chandana (30) hitting useful knocks.

Majestic Challengers led by Saluka Wijesiri managed to get 104 for 5 wickets in their 10 overs with Ruwan Galappaththi top scoring with 32 while Thushan Jayawardena the 52 year old leggie still bowled superbly and ended with most economical figures of the day with 3 for 23.

Earlier Mountain Heroes defeated Majestic Challengers by 9 wickets while Blues Tigers beat Monarch Kings by 11 runs in their matches.

The semi finals and final will be played today.
