Police Sports Club will travel down to the Race Course international stadium to take on an on-song CH and FC outfit in their first round inter-club league rugby postponed match today at Police Park with kick off scheduled for 4.15 pm.

The home team will move into the game against Police as favourites for the first time after a long period.

But can CH manage to sink the unpredictable Police battleship to earn a much needed fourth win of the season will be the question the entire rugby loving public will want to know.

The Maitland Crescent team has dominated the Police outfit in the past but the power has shifted in recent times with Police turning tables and winning the last time these two teams met.

Police SC held CH and FC to a thrilling 21-21 draw in 2017 at Police Park, but CH beat Police by 50 points to 38 at Race Course in 2018.

But Police had their revenge by defeating the lads from Maitland Crescent 36-22 in 2019 and continued their dominance over the CH and FC outfit.

The host CH and FC began the 2022 inter-club league rugby season with a 3-39 defeat against Kandy Sports Club and then lost to CR and FC (22-27). They also lost to Havelocks (17-20) but came back to beat the high riding Navy Sports Club (28-22), Army Sports Club (33-23) and Air Force Sports Club (22-15) at the Race Course in flying fashion, winning three games in a row this season.

Police on the other hand got off to a (0-12) loss against Navy SC and were defeated (21-17) by Havelocks.

But they got into a winning groove at Police Park by beating CR and FC (20-03) and Air Force SC (11-03) before they went down against the defending champs Kandy SC (36-23) where they fought to the very end up in Nittawela last week.

A game against the formidable CH and FC poses a different threat at the Race Course today. However, if recent form is anything to go by, CH and FC come in as clear favourites and should be able to edge out the Police.
