Defining ‘Her’: Redefining ‘Her’ correctly

13 March, 2022

Definitions are mostly used to describe certain terms systematically. They can easily be found in dictionaries or the web. If you are a student you would know this without doubt, because it is a nightmare in the exam paper. However sometimes the accuracy of these must be questioned, and one such to be questioned is the definition of woman.

The meaning of a certain word as well as the definition of that same word, wouldn’t happen to have a huge gap of difference among them. But, In certain instances they need to be aroused and changed. When the word “Woman” or “Female” is entered into Google, the result we get is “an adult female human being” which actually has a contrasting effect with regards to our daily lives. Truth is that they are the female form of human, but also the most important community.

“Keep a Lady in two options, giving her some huge amount of money and an old poor man who can’t love her. Without a comment she would choose the old man. A woman’s art is love. Next to love, money will only be pieces of Paper.”

Everyday we see our mothers, wives or sisters working hard to strive throughout the day. After getting up in the morning their presence is dedicated to the duties needed to be fulfilled in order to make our lives much more comfortable.

But having done all these things, their work mostly goes unnoticed without even a word of appreciation.

Maybe that’s the reason for having no respect towards young girls in this century, just because we end up becoming wives to depend upon husbands whose household duties we are supposed to handle.

Disgusting

It’s the 21st Century, where there is an increase in technology, human thinking and knowledge, yet why is it hard to expect a gender-friendly environment?

The female experiences a huge amount of unwanted assaults mentally as well as physically, some of them occur in front of the public eye. It’s critically disgusting to see these, it’s even more intriguing to ignore them. Methodically, many people would prefer to get it on camera rather than help the needy. Is it because we have defined the term wrong? Or is it because the older generation has taught “Women are slaves” ? Well, it can be one or even both.

From childhood, boys are taught “Don’t cry like a girl”, “Don’t wear pink, it’s for girls”, or “Dolls are only for girls”. Why can’t we teach them not to make girls cry. And that colour has no gender…the negligence is pure.

No one would care for these small factors that sum up to distress a lady in the future. The image of a female is mostly hidden in many cultures, just reasoning the fact that menstruation is a ‘secret’ among women, needless the portrayal of ‘her’ is expressed in terms of only beauty.

Beauty has become the measuring standard for a maiden. You are supposed to stay beautiful for the vision of male community, only to which they would respond with a proposal to control her life for the coming years.

Some girls are forced into marriage to an unknown person at an early age, they are asked to fully stop education in order to look after a family. Not only the juvenile’s are pulled into arranged marriages many women in the youth are dumped into the wreck.

It is rather scary, in these kinds of arrangements the woman often is left to suffer the storm. The males disregard the fact of being married, most wouldn’t care, as it wasn’t love at all.

But there is also another part of the society that increases, these…if you are a woman, your social standard would decrease devastatingly, if you have not married by the age of 30. We give no choice to the girls, “marry and you will be happy”, “you are old, where are your children”.

Before blaming and pointing the fingers, show a path for the new generation, make them learn that as descendants of Eve, there are independent solutions too.

Teaching things like those wouldn’t frame them to be stubborn, they will think differently which will result in better answers for gender equality in the future.

“Why is it a girl, as your firstborn?, couldn’t you do a better job?” a mother gives birth, after all the pain as well as pressure, we let her hear this from her own mom, martial partner or anyone out of the family.

Hatred

Are girls a bad omen?. Girls abandoned to die, grow up to be professionals in the community but with hatred towards the society. Isn’t it us that have made the terrible mistake?

Gender equality is so scarce at times in different industries. Reportedly, in Certain movies, the female lead’s profit calculated is even less than the second male lead’s profit.

After working twice as hard as the other party, not getting the deserved one should be condemned. If a business project includes a Female entrepreneur as Head, the probability of acceptance is less than 40 percent, previously it was even lower 20 percent.

However, it’s not the whole fault with the country system either, It’s the messed up beginning that led to these. For example, from the book “Kim Ji-Young, born 1982”, we see how girls are treated in a setting of early South Korea.

Once when the titular character is followed by a boy when she is at a bus stop during night.

Her father tends to blame the girl for wearing short skirts. For which the incident had no connection with. Females are scared to talk against violence is mainly due to people scanning with a blind eye and then turning them into rumours, finally destroying the reputation. The frame which finally satisfies is hatred.

Being a woman is practically hard going through all the mental pain as well as the physical pain. But ‘she’ handles it through her own art, and towards the end of each day they are yet humans.

Rise of “Women rights” has increased the desirable attention of many globally.

Women’s rights underlines fair treatment of the community, feminism, as well as fighting against violence. Canadian born actress Evangeline Lily once stated, “I’m very proud of being a woman and as a woman, I don’t even like the word ‘Feminism’ because when I hear the word, I associate it with women trying to pretend to be men and I’m not interested in trying to pretend to be a man.

I don’t want to embrace manhood; I want to embrace my womanhood.” The subject of “Feminism” of course is widely related to the world of this era. Although Lily’s statement doesn’t show an optimistic opinion regarding the subject, this is mainly as she lived in the ancient days, which may have thoroughly influenced her quote.

Improvement

But days have improved rather than the past, and in a better way for women on the planet. Nevertheless, as the others “Feminism” has also evolved to a wide range. Now the terms “Feminism”, “Feminists”. refer to women supporting each other to get fair opportunities in the sectors they focus on.

These days we also can see women fighting through the household work yet managing their career better and better than men sometimes.

Furthermore, they are stronger, improved and unique in comparison to ancient times. Alone based on my opinion every young damsel must get to know her existence, the effect of it. Without her we may never be able to think of the future. Within the past few years’ statistics prove how women have transferred their gender, why? Just as they need to be treated equally.

With Women rights, constantly there have been new laws passed for the prejudice against young girls as well as the elder females. After declaring the statement for “Elimination against women in 1993” by the United Nations, there have been a lot fewer cases as in contrast to the earlier years. Although a change was expected during the 2000s it has got worse in variety.

Girl child abuse, sexual violence against a minor are such cases that landed into prominence in those years. From the expansion of technology, we see people being sexist in TV shows, in Social media like wise, but with power many don’t leave them unnoticed in today’s world.

No limits

“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” said wone of the very special driving forces of women today, Michelle Obama. There is actually nothing a woman can’t do, only that we have no power to do so. Today even with a slight improvement we can still enjoy seeing lady butchers, painters, carpenters.

It’s actually refreshing to see a difference in those positions, usually done by men. Therefore in the future there must be more variations like them, if the female community gets more chances with relative fairness, there will be a high scope of probability.

Time has declared itself by coming around again and again, even though it hasn’t been well occupied to be used for the welfare of girls and mothers. Maybe it’s finally time to make the correct choice with right imposing.

“You don’t have to be pretty. You don’t owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don’t owe it to your mother, you don’t owe it to your children, you don’t owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked ‘female.’”- Eric McKean.

It’s time to stand up high, to not still be pretty. Join the hands together and share the stories that bring out the real woman in you, focus on yourself, without going behind those who have no respect for you. Let them look at you because you walk with pride and confidence. It’s time to show the truth. If they don’t define “Woman”, Let’s define it for ourselves.

On this Year’s Women’s Day in accordance with the United Nations, let’s make an oath for gender equality for a better future, a future where daughters can foresee a better life rather than being married away young. A future that embarks to respect women and not to transmit violence against them.

Let’s #BREAK THE BIAS
