He told a press briefing at the Health Promotion Bureau in Colombo on Friday that the free Covid-19 vaccine stocks will expire in a few months and, therefore, it should be obtained as soon as possible.
Dr. Dikmadugoda said that people who get Covid-19 and recover suffer from post-Covid-19 health issues such as fatigue, chest pain, wheezing, neurological disorders, mental diseases and post-viral arthritis. Some of these last for six to eight months. They can be treated with medication. Patients should consult a qualified doctor without going for unnecessary medical tests.
The best option to prevent being infected is to obtain all the vaccine doses. People should strictly follow all basic health guidelines at all times, he added.
