The Central Province Cricket Association headed by Sarath Ekanayake and Janaka Pathirane along with Sri Lanka Cricket have helped Vidyartha College with six side turf wickets which were much needed for them at their ground at Nittawela.
In a further boost Vidyartha will also have three centre wickets that will help them in a big way.
Vidyartha which started cricket in 1952 reached a competitive level in the sport with limited facilities and have produced several top cricketers.
Some of their products have done their alma mater proud by excelling in school, club and district level. It has produced some top class cricketers of the calibre of T.B. Uduwerella, the brothers Z.M. Zubair, Z.M. Anwer and Z.M. Zarook, T.B. Wijesinghe, George Jayasena, G.B.S. Diyawa, Sunil Serasinghe, G.D. Ariyaratne, G. Peries, E. Peries, L.B. Aluwihare, Russell Aluwihare, L. Dias, Sunil Munasinghe, H. Gamage Ariyaratne, N. Eramudugolla, R.M. Lafir, C.K. Gajanayake, S.M. Ramanayake, Nimal Malagamuwa, Athula Manchanayake, Anil Jayasinhge, Sanjan Boruppe, Nalin Nanayakkara, the Kodikara brothers Thushara, Chaminda, and Chamara, Tyronne Fernando, Chaminda Ariyadasa, Manoj Chamindalal, Kingsley Jagoda, Nalin Kumara, Dhammika Tillekaratne, Chaminda Jayamanne, Sumedha Perera, Kumara Dodangoda and Niroshan Balasooriya to name some of them that come to mind.
