Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) won the crown in the Non-Banking financial Services Sector for the fifth consecutive year at the 17th National Business Excellence Awards 2022.

The chief guest was French Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Eric Lavertu. CDB added to its laurels with Merit awards for Excellence in Performance Management and in the category for organisations with over Rs 5 bn capital employed and total revenue of over Rs 5 bn in the Extra-Large Category. 

CDB has been continually recognised for its commitment to business excellence and international best practices in compliance, governance, business operations, accountability, ethics and business principles by numerous national and international organisations.

Hence, the National Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s accolade bestowed on CDB for the 5th consecutive year is an affirmation of the Company’s highly valued contribution to business excellence in the country.

“CDB’s sustainability strategy has been constructed on the overall goal of establishing a smarter and sustainable Sri Lanka,” said Director/Deputy CEO/CFO of CDB, Damith Tennakoon.

“With sustainability being a key pillar in CDB’s strategy and execution of innovation, what we are seeing is that each of our stakeholders have taken ownership of this strategy, which has resulted in CDB being recognized for its business excellence. This award therefore belongs to each of our stakeholders and our deepest appreciation to our customers, valued business partners and team CDB for being the collective force in driving our sustainability strategy forward,” he said.

The panel of judges was chaired by Sunil G. Wijesinha, which evaluated over 100 applicants in multiple categories on seven criteria - Excellence in Strategy and Leadership, Corporate Governance and Strategy, Capacity Building, Performance Management, Local and Global Market Reach, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability, Business and Financial Results.
