AGM Products (Pvt.) Ltd., a processor of spices, won the Bronze award for Small Scale Spice and Allied Products at the National Industrial Excellence Awards recently.
It was organised by the Industrial Development Board of Ceylon (IDB).
Managing Director of the Company, Abdul Waheed Mohammad Farook received the award at a ceremony at the Waters’ Edge Hotel.
The chief guest was President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
AGM Products was set up in 1990 and initially sold pepper, nutmeg, mace, cinnamon, cloves, coffee and turmeric. From humble beginnings the company has now emerged as a leading producer of value added spice related products.
The company now produces various value-added products like powdered pepper, pepper sauce, cinnamon powder, cinnamon tea, cardamom powder, clove powder, vanilla powder, vanilla tea, goraka paste, various types of curry powder, grains and flour.
These products are sold locally and internationally and are manufactured in extremely hygienic conditions. The company has been awarded the GMP certificate and has won a number of awards for entrepreneurship. Since its inception, the company has created many employment opportunities for the youth in the area.
