The Secretaries of registered political parties have been invited to the Elections Commission on June 6 to discuss the current political and social unrest in the country.
The Commission members will also take up the matters pertaining to the renewal of the electoral register, a media release issued by Secretary of the Elections Commission, H.M.T.D. Herath stated. The Commission has begun revising the electoral register for 2022 and it will conclude on October 31, 2022. The Secretary to the Commission has asked the public to get in touch with the Grama Niladhari to clarify matters of residence and their queries on the electoral register can be referred to the district elections office. The Commission will display the names to be taken off and included in the 2022 register from June 15 to July 12 during which period appeals and objections will also be accepted from interested parties and persons.
