Openers Vishmi Gunaratne 45 in 50 balls with six fours and skipper Chamari Atapattu 43 in 41 balls with seven fours and a six put on 87 runs in 13.5 overs but it was all in vain as India recorded a five wicket-win over Sri Lanka with five balls to spare in their second T20 game played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Apart from the openers the rest of the Sri Lankan batters failed to impress with the bat as the Indian bowlers dominated.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made an unbeaten 31 in 32 balls while opener Smriti Mandhana scored 39 in 34 balls with eight fours that paved the way for victory and a 2-0 series lead with one match to go.

Batter Hashini Perera was run out without scoring or facing a ball after she replaced pace bowler Ama Kanchana.

The two teams will meet in the third and final match on Monday at the same venue.
