Having captained Wesley College at hockey and cricket and coloursman in both, and soccer, Tajone Swangsa was one of the best all round sportsman.
Joining Colombo Malay CC, he was a stalwart and as a left extreme possessed exceptional stick work which foxed many an opponent. He represented Colombo HA at the National Championships in 1967 and 1968 and Mercantile HA from 1969 to 1972, and played in the winning teams of 1969 and 1970.

A robust and fearsome centre forward he was a stalwart of the Matale HA for decades and represented the Association at the National Championships on nine occasions, captaining in 1971, and played when they were joint champions in 1962, and winners in 1965.
An academic, he went on to be Principal of Zahira College, Matale, Amal International School, Colombo, Westwood International School, Katugastota, and Greenwood College International, Matale.
