Trinity College defeated Royal College 26-21 in the second leg of their Bradby Shield rugby match yesterday at the Pallekele stadium.

But Royal took custody of the Bradby Shield going by the aggregate in both legs after winning the first match in Colombo by 29 points to nil.

Royal finished with an aggregate of 50 points compared to Trinity’s 26.

But unlike the first leg of the Bradby match, yesterday’s game had some exciting moments with Trinity surging into a 10-3 lead at the start and Royal taking the lead at one stage.

Trinity however played better cohesive rugby in the second half to come on top.

Overall Trinity scored their points through one goal, two tries and three penalties while Royal had the consolation of scoring three unconverted tries along with two penalties.

Former Trinity player Byron Fernando was the chief guest at the match and presented the Bradby Shield to Royal.
