Lakwin Flight Academy is an organisation approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka to provide the finest quality flight training in the country with their highly experienced staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and well-maintained fleet of aircraft.

Speaking to the Sunday Observer, Director Operations Captain Hirantha Perera said: “Our Company was established in February 2020 with the blessings of our Chairman, Lakshitha Weerasinghe, who is a well established businessman”.

“Today, as a flying training school, we are one of the leading institutes in the sector. After beginning operations in the GA-8 aircraft (made in Australia), we intend to expand by using a Multi-Engine Piper Seneca PA-34 aircraft (made in the United States).

Also, within the past two and a half years of operations, we have trained a number of pilots, including, Private Pilot License Holders-31, Commercial Pilot Licence Holders with Instrument Rating-14, Multi Engine Rating-21, and Flight Instructor Rating-6”.

He said: “The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka has now taken steps to issue an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Lakwin Aviation (Pvt) Limited, as a local air transport company, as it has met the qualifications to carry out passenger and transport operations.

On request, we fly to 15 destinations in Sri Lanka through charter flights. The destinations are the Ampara Airport, Anuradhapura Airport, Bandaranaike International Airport, Batticaloa Airport, China Bay Airport, Colombo Airport, Jaffna Airport, Katukurunda Airport, Koggala Airport, Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, Minneriya Airport, Vavuniya Airport, Weerawila Airport, and the Sigiriya Airport, Captain Perera said.
