Sri Lanka tennis juniors on show at ITF world meet

The ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors Week 6 will be played from October 10 to 16 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) clay courts Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha.

The week 5 of the ITF Juniors tour finished successfully on Sunday (10) with Sri Lankan stars Kiran Vairavanathan emerging as runner-up in the boys singles event and Dinara de Silva and Saajida Razick emerging runners-up in the girls doubles event. The players also maintained a high standard of tennis.

Week 5 drew as many as 32 entries in the boys and girls singles event while the doubles event drew only 16 entries each.

Week 5 Results: (finals)

Girls doubles:
Miyu Kageyema and Rio Wakayama (Japan) beat Dinara de Silva and Saajida Razick (Sri Lanka), 7/6, 5/7, 10/5.

Girls singles:
Rio Wakayama (Jap) beat Miyu Kageyema (Jap) 3/6, 6/1, 3/0 (rtd).

Boys doubles:
Lorant Gyori (Hungary) and Arjan Jit Singh (Ind) beat Chun Tang (Taipei) and Kiran Vairavanatha (Sri) 6/3, 6/7, 10/8.

Boys singles:
Lorant Gyori (Hungary) beat Kiran Vairavanatha (Sri Lanka) 6/4, 5/7, 6/2.
