Kamindu Mendis smacks 105 as CCC fight back

Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) made a bold reply to be 411 for 5 wickets when bad light stopped play in the final of the Major League Cricket Tournament encounter against Tamil Union at the end of the third day at the SSC ground yesterday.

However, CCC are still 147 runs behind the Tamil Union total of 558 that was boosted by a gallant 188 runs scored by Sadeera Samarawickrama. Isuru Udana also made a generous contribution with 88 runs off 72 deliveries.

Resuming from their overnight total of 149 for two wickets CCC made a gallant fight back with Kamindu Mendis scoring 105 useful runs. He and Lasith Abeyratne put on a 108-runs partnership for the fourth wicket.

Later, Ashan Priyanjan and Chamindu Wijesinghe were involved in an unfinished partnership of 123 runs for the sixth wicket. Priyanjan was unbeaten on 52 while Wijesinghe was 71 not out.

The match will be continued today (20) the final day.
