Physical training for sports teachers

Sarah Hulton, the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, noted that physical training teachers should be properly trained who in turn will develop the skills in sports of school children.

In support of this cause she will inaugurate a plan to implement a program that will help the teachers improve on their physical training techniques. The ambassador had conveyed this plan to the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Roshan Ranasinghe when they met last week at the High Commissioner’s official residence in Colombo.

The High Commissioner expressed her willingness to provide the personal who will conduct courses on sports knowledge, training technology and understanding of various sports other than cricket.

They also agreed to start a project to save children from the menace of drugs.

The High Commissioner also said that they will provide the necessary support to young people who are receiving training abroad.

Minister Roshan Ranasinghe was accompanied by the Ministerial secretary Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva, National Sports Council president Arjuna Ranatunga, its secretary Sujani Bogollagama and Minister’s Advisor Sudath Chandrasekara during these discussions. (TBR)
