Antonians and Trinitians not allowed to play at home?

27 November, 2022

St. Anthony’s College will play against Trinity College in the semi final of the under-19 inter school division one Tier “A” limited overs cricket tournament but the venue in Colombo has raised questions with both schools not willing to travel 115 kilo metres away from home to play a match.

This game is expected to be played on Monday (28) at the Thurstan College ground in Colombo. But there will be a request form the two schools to play the game at Dambulla.

In the quarter finals St. Anthony’s College beat Mahanama College and Trinity College beat St. Sebastian’s College and the semifinal is expected to be a blockbuster where both teams are blessed with some fine cricketers.

The match will be an extension of Trinity-Antonian rivalry that dates back over a hundred years.

Trinity first played cricket in 1893 and the Antonians in 1899.
