India became the number source for tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka for the first 11 months of this year with 105,654 Indians visiting Sri Lanka.
However, Russia overtook India in November accounting for 13,820 arrivals while India had 10,167. The third best source for Sri Lanka was Germany with 5,169 and the United Kingdom (4,506) followed by Australia (2,939).
Meanwhile, showing positive sentiments, the number of tourist arrivals picked up last month with 59,759 arrivals. This was the highest figure after six months. This figure was at 44,294 in November 2021.
The total number of arrivals for this year now stands at 628,017 while it was 194,495 last year. – SS
