Untouched and Love and Lock Down

Internationally acclaimed Sujeewa Patinisekara’s ‘Untouched’ and M. Safeer’s ‘Love and Lock Down’ will be staged at Elphinstone Theatre at 7 p.m. on December 13 and 14.

The play ‘Untouched’ has represented Sri Lanka in theatre festivals in United Arab Emirates, India, Egypt and Mongolia, becoming the best theatre production at the Sham El Sheikh Theater Festival in Egypt and acclaimed the highest award ever won by a Sri Lankan play.

At the Saint Muse Theatre Festival in Mongolia. It brought Sri Lankan theatre to the world by being nominated for the best direction, best Play, Best Choreograph and Best Actress awards.

M. Safeer’s ‘Love and Lockdown’ held its local premiere at the first Monodrama festival held in Sri Lanka last year and also this was Safeer’s consecutive 50th theatre encounter. Also, its first international premiere was held in April at the Adana National Theatre in Turkey, joining the only three international plays selected for the month-long Adana Drama Festival.

‘Love and Lockdown’ is due to be staged in the United Emirates, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Alexandria, Romania and Mongolia. For the first time ‘Love and Lockdown’ will be performed in the Sinhala and English languages.

Subuddhi Lakmali plays the main role in these two creations while sets and choreography are by M. Safeer and lighting by Wasantha Kumara and Sujeeva Pathinisekara. Stage management by Nirosh Kaviratne, M. Safras and M. Sharaf. Asst. M.Sharaz.

‘Love and Lockdown’ was written by Prasad Wickramarathna. The directors of the two plays are Sujeeva Pathinasekara and M. Safeer and presented by Inter Act Art Theatre Institute.
