Navy SC beat Havelocks by 26 points (4 tries, 3 conversions) to 6 points (2 penalties) in their last Nippon Paint ‘A’ Division inter-club league rugby fixture played at the Race Course ground in Colombo yesterday.
Navy SC scored first through scrum half Harsha Maduranga which was converted by full back Thilina Weerasinghe.
Havies cut down the lead to 3-7 when their fly half Sandesh Jayawickrema slotted in a 35 meter penalty and put over a second kick making the scores 7-6.
Navy went into a 14- 6 lead when Weerasinghe touched down for a try which he converted.
Early in the second half Navy went into a 19-6 lead through second row forward Dananjaya Seneviratne’s try and just before full time in the 79th minute of play Navy prop forward Deshan Wimukthi scored a fine try and Weerasinghe made the conversion.
