Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mayantha Dissanayake has informed the Speaker of Parliament that he will step down from the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) Chairmanship.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene said he received the resignation letter from Dissanayake yesterday. Dissanayake meanwhile told journalists in Colombo that he decided to step down from the post after a discussion with Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa. Dissanayake further said he had accepted the post of COPF Chairman after several MP’s requested him to do so and there was a consensus among members in this regard.
